A PLACE TO PERFORM: We provide a platform for performers of all ages and skill levels to be heard at numerous events in Katy and the greater Houston area. Visit our NEWS & EVENTS page to learn about recent and upcoming events.
LIVE MUSIC FOR YOUR EVENT: We have an ever growing pool of performers and equipment, and can provide live music (and an MC, if needed) for your event, no matter how large or small. As we are a nonprofit and depend on donations, we do require a portion of proceeds when providing services for events. Please contact us, if your event needs live music.
MUSIC PROGRAM CREATION: We assist other organizations in the creation of music programs, from fully setting the program up, to getting the books and equipment they need. Please contact us, if your organization is interested in providing a music program.
Katy Rocks has assisted the following organizations in creating music programs:
The Salvation Army Boys & Girls Club of Houston Aldine Westfield location, Pro-Vision School
The Krause Center for at risk kids, Covenant House, Katy Adventist School
The Arc of Katy for children and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities
HOW WE CAME TO BE: Katy Rocks was founded in 2011 by Mary Holeman. Mary’s husband, Dray Holeman, lost his eyesight due to cataracts, and could no longer work as an ASE certified mechanic. While waiting for bilateral eye lense replacement surgeries, Mary encouraged him to start his own music business, as he is such a gifted musician and was still able to play, despite his blindness. Soon, Dray had many students that wanted to fulfill their dreams of being in a band. Over time, several students could not afford their lessons, but did not want to give up on them. So, Dray would allow them to do chores, in exchange for lessons. As, this wasn’t a sustainable arrangement (monetarily), but the students and Dray wanted to continue their musical dreams, Mary had the idea of creating a nonprofit organization. And so, Katy Rocks Inc was born. Dray’s vision has since been restored, but he now works full-time at Katy Rocks Inc.
